About Us

Henry SpringeHello, I'm Henry Springe, founder and owner of Henry Contracting. I was born right here in Leavenworth, as was my Dad, a tax attorney, my Grand Dad & my Great-Grand Dad who owned the uniform and tailoring business in town! My grandmother on my father's side, the Stoltz's, were also from here. They owned Stoltz's Wholesale Grocery which was located in downtown Leavenworth. I have a younger brother David, also an attorney, who is the President for the Kansas Corporation Commission.

I started my company in 2000 but have been in this line of work for over 25 years. In 1980, after attending Leavenworth High School, I worked for a company in Oklahoma for a couple years running pipelines from oil rigs to oil storage areas. In 1983, the work dried-up so I came back to Leavenworth and started pouring concrete for Leavcon, a commercial and residential contracting company here in town. In 1989, I left Leavcon and attended DeVry University majoring in check printer repair and maintenance. After graduating at the top of my class, I went to work for a company named Check Technology maintaining their printers. I did this for about ten years. Since much of the work was on-call, I had time to moonlight between calls and on weekends so I got back to doing some concrete flatwork. During the 90's, I built-up my equipment inventory for this type of work, first a Bobcat, then a Kubota tractor, and finally some dump trucks. In 2000, my wife Renae suggested that I do contracting full-time. So, I jumped right in, put my name on the side of my truck and did what I do best. Through word of mouth and a reputation of quality work, my business has grown into a successful company, keeping me busy throughout the year!

I couldn't do this all by myself. I have a couple of key people that make it work and I'm thankful for all they do. First, are my employees, each hardworking and talented. Second, is my brother David, for always being available if I need some legal advice. And last but not least, my wife Renae, originally from British Columbia. With a Bachelors in Microbiology from Leavenworth's University of Saint Mary and soon a Masters from Kansas University in Molecular Bio Technology, she really stays busy, but always has time for others - she keeps my books, prepares my taxes and is a great Mom to our son Brady. I feel very fortunate to be working with such a professional team.

As I always say - do well by others and you'll do well yourself!
